FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Agoura Hills, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) July 6, 2011 -- The best thing about compost tumblers is it makes composting easy. Imagine it eliminates the use of pitchforks thereby saving the gardener with aching backs. Composting nowadays needs lesser time compared to old ways that requires months, now in just 4 to 6 weeks ne can use their compost in gardening.

Compost tumblers are specifically designed for easy rotation and mixing. These ventilate the compost inside making bacteria and fungi to work optimally. Air vents drilled into the bin allows ventilation or air to seep in the compost making decomposition fast and easy, ventilation pipes helps break up compost clumps are created during rotation making it hard to dig out the finished compost, gardener needs not to worry these issues as the compost tumblers are created to address this problems.

Improper ventilation may have a dire effect with the compost, the mild effect delays the decaying process and the extreme one may cause your compost a stinking sludge because of too much moisture and too much aerobic bacteria that thrived in the compost.

The compost tumbler door is designed to allow compost to be added and removed with ease. Always check the door or latches as they are the common complaints with compost tumblers. Sliding offer more resistance but it is high risk for compost jam so with the twist caps. Plastic compost tumblers are also prone to warping due to the weight of the compost thereby slightly altering the shape of the door. While a large door may help you to add and remove compost, potential problem may arise as well as it will make your compost susceptible to pests such as rats and mice. Duct tape can alleviate the problem by sealing broken door and latches.

Door and ventilation holes allow rain water to seep in. But during heavy rain a covering will be needed to protect the compost and the compost moisture or “compost tea” from leaking out. Compost tea in good quality compost makes a good fertilizer too, but in a low quality compost produces a nasty liquid or compost tea. Though there are composters available in the market today with mechanisms that collects compost tea.

Plastic is the most common materials used in constructing compost tumblers making galvanized steel less popular. Though steel is stronger and harder and can withstand sunlight exposure better than the plastics ones. But galvanized steel is susceptible to rust as they are not stainless steel. Stainless steel will be too expensive especially for large bins. Another issue with steel compost tumblers is that it does not retain heat. Heat or warm is needed to keep the aerobic bacteria to function.
