Beyond Expectations, Inc. (BE) announced today that it will host their annual Film Screening at Rave Motion Pictures on Sunday, November 14 in Voorhees, NJ. The event will highlight original short films created by youth who participated in BE’s Teen Film Program.
For the first time, the screening will be held at a major cinema. "Rave Motion Pictures is happy to be hosting this event", said Mark Elson, General Manager, RC 16. "We look to assist and support community organizations such as this and expect it to be the first of many great projects with Beyond Expectations going forward."
Over the 5-week program, teens learned the basics of filmmaking, worked as a team to create their own concept, story, and music for their short film. The popular program has already reached teens throughout the state of New Jersey, including a group of young men in a Ewing-based independent living program, to youth from several Burlington and Camden county organizations.
Through an ongoing partnership between BE and Media Independence Television (MiND), the original films will also air on tv! MiND is an independent public television channel serving the Philadelphia market and its surrounding 17 counties (2.9 million households). "We are thrilled that Beyond Expectations continues to expand its Teen Filmmaking program, and are proud to showcase these programs on our station," said Eric Fiedler, director of development and outreach. "This program is a perfect example of how powerful a tool media can be when it is used for doing good in our communities!”
"This is a great opportunity to shed positive light on these phenomenal young people," said Leontyne Anglin, BE director and executive producer. "It's also an example of organizations working collaboratively to provide youth with tangible skills as they transition into adulthood."
Given the tough economic times, BE wanted parents to simply enjoy a day out without having to worry about cost. This year’s film screening will be free of charge. The organization is hoping this will encourage families to come and enjoy the worthy event together.
Attendees can meet the cast & crew immediately after the show at Coffee Works Cafe, just steps away from Rave.
