Beyond Expectations, Inc. (BE) launches Teen Video / Filmmaking Program in Ewing, New Jersey
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 20, 2010 --
Beyond Expectations, Inc. (BE) announced today that it has launched a Teen Video / Filmmaking Program in Ewing, New Jersey. Sparked by the overwhelming response to Leontyne Anglin’s story adapted into the award-winning short film, “18 and Out”, the program will target teens currently in or preparing to age out of foster care. “We are eager for this opportunity,” said Leontyne Anglin, BE founder and director, “ to provide this talented yet often overlooked population with a voice … and a chance to tell their own stories, for a change.”
The program participants include a group of bright, ambitious young men from Lifeties, Inc. Teen Independent Living Training (T.I.L.T) program under the guise of director Beverly Gibson. “I believe that it is the obligation of a program such as T.I.L.T. to do everything possible to stimulate our youth with experiences beyond their expectations”, said Gibson, “so they can measure their own greatness and recognize their true potential.”
Interested students participated in a briefing session with Anglin several weeks ago to learn the details of the 20-hour, 4-week long program. Partial funds raised during BE's 2009 Holiday Reception & Film Screening will help offset program costs. Topics include basics of the three phases of film making (pre-production, production, and post production), budgeting, and marketing. Working with Anglin, the group will help write and produce a story of their choice, and meet local filmmakers committed to the worthy project.
Through an ongoing partnership between BE and Media Independence (MiND TV), the video will also air on television. An independent public television channel serving the Philadelphia market and its surrounding 17 counties (2.9 million households), the video will also air on television. “MiND TV is thrilled to continue its partnership with BE through this new initiative,” said Eric Fiedler, Director of Community, Foundation and Government Relations at MiND. “We’re looking forward to seeing the results of this valuable program, and to sharing it with our audience.” Wayne Wilson, founder, Sofa 2 Summit Productions, who served as associate producer on “18 and Out”, will once again join forces with Anglin … this time as Director of Photography.
“Teaching media to teens is not a novel concept” said Anglin. “What sets this program apart is the integration of business as well as leadership principles from my past experience as a corporate executive and community organizer.” Many of these principles can arm young people with real tools to draw upon as they transition into adulthood.
