FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 8, 2011 --

As their digital agency of choice Resolution Creative have developed a secure and fully scalable download facility for The Big Issue which will work along side their existing web platform. Being thrown in at the deep end the first download was to be 'Hometown Glory' by Adele, which is taken from her new live DVD “Live at the Royal Albert Hall” this previously unreleased live version could only be downloaded exclusively on The Big Issue website for seven days. The download was accessible through the website via a code the specified edition of the Big Issue magazine. The framework had to have the ability to process thousands of downloads per minute whist being geo-locked to the UK was a great opportunity to showcase our growing reputation as a creative web agency.

Created in response to the growing number of rough sleepers on the streets of London, Gordon Roddick and A. John Bird launched The Big Issue in 1991. Roddick, who also co-founded The Body Shop, was inspired by a newspaper called Street News, which was sold on the streets of New York. Upon his return from America he enlisted the help of Bird, who had experience in the print trade and who had himself slept rough. The Big Issue Company publishes a weekly entertainment and current affairs magazine, which Big Issue sellers (or vendors) buy for £1 and sell for £2, thereby earning £1 per copy. Any post investment profit generated through the sale of the magazine or the sale of advertising is passed on to our charity, The Big Issue Foundation. The Foundation is also reliant upon donations from the public to fund its crucial work with vendors. The Big Issue is a business solution to a social problem, demonstrating that an organisation can succeed whilst being simultaneously driven by commercial aims and social objectives. It has helped thousands of individuals to regain control of their lives and has simultaneously altered public perceptions of homeless people. And through its editorial content the magazine has informed, challenged and entertained millions of people.
