I love to travel and that is one of the reasons I started this company so I wasn’t tied to a 9 to 5 job that had me locked down. Packing your gear and hitting the road is an exciting adventure that I really can’t explain. When my father Ed and I go to these events we always arrive early so that we can ride the location and meet the people from that area. You can always learn about the best roads and the off the beat places by asking a local where to go. We rode the Bad Lands on the first day for some reason out of all the times that I’ve been to Sturgis I never rode that area. It looked like the land was sucked dry of all the water similar to the moon. Being from Chicago the open space and the big puffy marsh mellow clouds make you feel alive again. On the second day we rode to Mt. Rushmore and through Hill City and Keystone. South Dakota is one of the best motorcycle riding areas that I have been blessed to experience. Now that our riding was done it was time to get back to business.

As we started to set up our booth we were amazed at the progress of the set up crew for the Monkey Rock organization. We came to find out that the stadium that they created was just an open field just several weeks before the event was to take place. To watch all of the separate crews working together to assemble a venue of that magnitude was impressive to watch. Chris Edwards was very accommodating during all of the chaos that surrounded him. He was our main contact with the organization and he never was too busy to have a kind word. If you’re not aware of the location of the Monkey Rock it is directly across from the Full Throttle Saloon which is heavy competition in the Sturgis world. Full Throttle was producing the second season of their reality show that is produced by truTV which would be a perfect network for our show Motorcycle Road Discovery but that’s another story. With all the people in Sturgis there is enough business for two big players to compete against each other for bragging rights of being the best and that’s exactly what they are doing.

Biker Boot Straps is an on line business that sells a product that holds your pants in place while you ride your motorcycle. The opportunity to get in front of your customers and get some real feedback is priceless. We are developing a new weather proof product which includes a nylon clip and a rubber strap which was the hit of the show. This product is still in the testing stage but it will be ready for the fall market. We are very proud of the 2nd generation boot straps and can’t wait to release it but it has to be right first. It will be released in a Ladies Only line up first which includes a Blinged Heart and a Studded Peace emblem. John Sullivan from Easy Rider said he would be interested in doing a product evaluation article when we are ready to release the final product. We wound the trip down with a ride through Deadwood and Spearfish before packing it in and heading home.

The experience of 25 bands in twenty five days was one that I will never forget. The people that you meet along the way are like pebbles in the long gravel road of life. To have the ability to talk to people from all over the world that have the common ground of the sport of motorcycling is a true joy in my life. Riding has always been a big part of me and having the ability to make a living out of it is a dream come true.
