For decades, the citizens of West Hollywood have been forced to live with billboards, tall walls, large screen video displays and other off-site signs, while billboard companies have received over a billion dollars in advertising revenues and West Hollywood has become the sign capitol of California. The time is now for billboard companies to pay their fair share to the City of West Hollywood for this privilege.
The Tax BIllboard Act will be on the March 2011 Ballot. Voting YES to Tax Billboards will generate over $5 million dollars annually for the People of West Hollywood!
The new revenue would permit an expansion of AIDS/HIV treatment and prevention programs, add community public spaces such as pocket parks and public enhancements for the new library, public safety funds for sheriff services, and continue funding for cultural affairs and community events.
NO new Billboards will be allowed by the Tax Billboard Act! Make Billboard Companies pay for their Billboard Blight and massive profits they make in West Hollywood.
