BLACK FRIDAY: PRE-DAWN SHOPPING CHAOS
Americans are frantically preparing for one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Black Friday is less than two weeks away and many shoppers are willing to do whatever it takes to get a great deal. The findings enclosed were gathered from discussions with seasoned Black Friday shoppers and numerous store owners. According to ExtraOrdinary Concierge Director of Services, Branden Lark, frustration and anxiety towards Black Friday runs deep, particularly among inexperienced shoppers.
Black Friday veteran, Terry Lewis said, “I plan to spend most of Thanksgiving waiting outside the store for its midnight opening…that’s the only way to get the best deals.” This sentiment is shared amongst countless other shoppers. It seems the spirit of the holiday season has gotten lost in the bargain shopping hustle and bustle.
In years past, discount retailers like Wal-Mart have actually called police to handle irate customers who were literally fighting inside the store. Incidents like the aforementioned have taken a more fatal turn. The worst case scenario of Black Friday chaos involved the death of a man who was trampled when a growing crowd rushed the doors after the store opened.
“These unfortunate Black Friday stories demonstrate the need to relieve holiday shoppers from the pressures of fighting or even dying for the biggest discounts,” said Lena Adebowale, owner of Elle Boutique. “I love a great deal like the next person, but I leave my Black Friday shopping to professionals like ExtraOrdinary Concierge.”
ExtraOrdinary Concierge is a Los Angeles based concierge service that employs a staff of professional shoppers who have relationships with numerous vendors and retailers. This company offers a range of service packages for the holiday shopper who would rather spend time with their family than deal with the chaos.
