Bluegreen Corporation Employees Support Local School Program with Charitable Donations

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 26, 2010 -- Boca Raton, Fla., - August 26, 2010 – Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE: BXG), a leading provider of Colorful Places to Live and Play, today announced its continued participation in the SOS Children’s Villages annual “Back to School and Ready” Project, for the fourth straight year. From August 2nd-13th, the Bluegreen Employee Action Resource (BEAR) Team collected and delivered donations of school supplies to the foster care neighborhood in Coconut Creek based on a wish list provided by their children.

Through Bluegreen associates’ generous donations, children in Coconut Creek received an assortment of school necessities – about 900 items, including 56 spiral notebooks, 72 glue sticks, 122 mechanical pencils, over 200 pens and more.

“Bluegreen gives back to the community because it’s just the right thing to do; to help others less fortunate,” said Ellen Devine, leader of the Bluegreen BEAR Team. “It also creates a culture of giving at Bluegreen and it allows people from different parts of the companies, in different roles to come together with a common goal and focus.”

SOS Children’s Villages has become the largest non-denominational children’s care provider in the world with more than 500 Villages in 132 countries with over 60,000 children in the program. The Florida Village opened in 1993 and has since helped raise more than 250 boys and girls who were removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment.

The BEAR Team is dedicated to supporting and enriching Bluegreen’s culture in Boca Raton by continuously improving associate morale through engaging social activities and recognition programs. In addition, they support non-profit organizations, as well as charitable events and activities, as important ways to give back to the communities in which Bluegreen does business and to the people and organizations that patronize their businesses.

Vickie Walter, Community Relations Manager for SOS Children’s Villages – Florida, said the organization appreciates the continued support Bluegreen has given over the years. Despite the recent economic conditions, donations for their biggest school drive of the year have remained fairly consistent. “We’ve been very lucky,” Walter said. “We have a lot of wonderful friends like Bluegreen out there that support us and believe in what we are doing.”
