Bluetooth® Fairy: SYNC® Technology to be Standard on 2013 Ford Fusion and Flex

February 15, 2012 Cars news in Staunton,Virginia, United States of America

Behind all the success of the SYNC system and the growing popularity of the Ford Fusion, Ford is making SYNC standard on the 2013 Fusion and Flex.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Staunton, Virginia, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 15, 2012 -- The term “hands-free” used to connote lackadaisical parenting, insufficient safety or a variation of the phrase young daredevils would utter when riding their bicycles without using the handlebars. Since the advent of cell phones and mobile devices, however, hands-free technology represents a commitment to protecting drivers who need to access their electronics without letting go of the wheel.

It is in this spirit of increased focus on safety that Ford is including its SYNC® wireless capability as a standard feature for all 2013 Fusion and Flex models. Owners of any trim level will be able to connect to SYNC® with USB or Bluetooth® on compatible devices, allowing access to voice-controlled operating commands.

Ford first released SYNC® with some of its 2008 model year autos. As the number of people using cell phones continues to climb, its importance as a safety feature increases as well.

“Ford SYNC technology has led the industry in transforming the way we connect to our cars,” said Ford General Marketing Manager Dave Mondragon. “SYNC has enabled Ford drivers to take advantage of the latest communication and entertainment technology with an easily upgradeable architecture that is friendly to use.”

In addition to granting speech-controlled access to music and phone calls, SYNC® enables drivers to connect to their favorite apps, listen to text messages, hear traffic information, get real-time weather forecasts and receive navigational assistance. With SYNC 911 Assist™, drivers don’t have to worry about reaching the proper authorities when disaster strikes. If an accident causes the airbags to go off, the driver’s phone can be used to reach an emergency operator and GPS tracking can guide first responders to the scene.

With the 2013 versions of the Ford Fusion and Flex, drivers will be able to keep their hands and attention on the without any distractions. That way, the feeling they have will be syncing rather than sinking.

The 2013 Ford Fusion and Ford Flex are expected to be released later this year.
