BOB TAYLOR TO CHALLENGE BILL ELFO FOR SHERIFF
Bob Taylor will bring service to our community with
honesty, integrity, and fiscal responsibility.
Bob Taylor announced his candidacy for the 2011 Whatcom County Sheriff’s race. Taylor is an experienced leader who will guide the Sheriff’s Office in a revitalization effort aimed at improving service to our community with a clear strategy based on integrity and fiscal responsibility.
The current financial crisis has shown us that all levels of government, including the Sheriff’s Office, have not been effectively managing tax payer dollars. Taylor stated, "I’ll focus on making sure every tax dollar going into the Sheriff’s Office is used in the most effective way possible.”
The purpose of the Sheriff’s Office is to serve and protect. According to Taylor, "We can only accomplish this if the Sheriff’s Office embraces modern professional standards, values performance, and follows a clear and measurable improvement plan.”
Taylor‘s decades of experience as an Air Force officer, financial advisor, production manager, and law enforcement professional combine to provide the community with a talented candidate eager to serve our community with honesty, integrity, and fiscal restraint. At a time when the divide between government and citizens is wider than ever, people are looking for leadership without politics in order to bridge this gap.
Taylor graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, received a commission as an Air Force officer where he was honored as a Distinguished Graduate, completed Air Force ROTC leadership program ranking in the top ten percent in the nation.
As an Air Force officer, Taylor went on to oversee a 350-person security forces unit responsible for securing our nation’s intercontinental ballistic missile inventory. After leaving the Air Force as a Captain, Taylor became a licensed financial planner and managed an investment office after which he managed a manufacturing staff of up to 120 people as the production manager for a technology firm.
Since then and for more than ten years Taylor has been a deputy with the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to typical law enforcement duties, Taylor has worked tirelessly on projects aimed at maximizing resources and increasing efficiencies that benefit the Sheriff’s Office and our community. According to Taylor, "As Sheriff, I will be able to promote and implement these projects and policies to empower the outstanding professionals in the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office to work smarter in order to do their finest work for the community we all cherish.”
