(Brooklyn, NY – April 30, 2010) - Back by popular demand, the Children’s Sports & Fitness Expo presented by Body Sculpt of New York, in partnership with United Federation of Teachers, Emblem Health, Radio Disney, Metro PCS, Barclay Net Community Alliance and Sports New York returns to New York City for the 7th consecutive year. The annual childhood obesity awareness event takes place on Saturday, June 12th from 10-4pm at Boys & Girls High School, located at 1700 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, New York. The New York City Fitness Czar and Body Sculpt of New York President Vincent Ferguson will be on hand sharing his passion to educate children and their parents on leading active and healthy lifestyles.

“You have video games and computers which kids would rather obsess over instead of going outside for classic running, jumping and bike riding. The expo is an opportunity for kids to get out of the house and get involved in a diverse variety of sports and activities, “said Ferguson.

This free community fitness event will host thousands of school age children who will have an opportunity to participate in a wide range of sports clinics including, basketball, archery, jump rope, tennis, fencing, golf, gymnastics, hip-hop dance, step, soccer, hula hoop, track & field, baseball, wrestling, football, volleyball along with cooking demonstrations, health test and screenings, nutrition classes, games and prizes. This year Diane Henderiks aka "Dietitian in the Kitchen™", a leading U.S. nutritionist, personal chef and culinary educator will conduct workshops and share tips on cooking and shopping for healthy living.

Vincent Ferguson is a certified personal trainer and author of ‘Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit’, a guide to help parents and caretakers design exercise programs that will help their children lose weight, eat right and get in shape. Body Sculpt of New York is a 501(c) health and fitness organization, whose purpose is to educate parents and children about childhood obesity and offer healthy alternatives, particularly in the areas of physical fitness and nutrition. The Children’s Sports & Fitness expo has hosted well over 15,000 NYC families since the first one in 2004.
