Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://laserlipoandveins.com/ Botox [Botulinum ToxinType A], given in the doses used to reduce facial wrinkles, may stop certain kinds of migraines. While doctors have known this for many years that patients with migraine headaches described as "skull crushing" or "eye-popping" are significantly helped by receiving Botox injections in the forehead, but Botox is not yet approved for the treatment or prevention of migraine headaches, (Kim, MD, Bogart, MD, Wee, MD, Burstein, PhD, Arndt, MD, & Dover, MD, 2010). Based on this notion and research, Allergan, Inc. a multi-specialty health care company has filed for approval with the FDA to market Botox as a treatment for chronic migraines.
According to reports published at Archives of Dermatology, research conducted on 18 patients showed that 13 saw a reduction in migraine pain, from almost seven days a month to fewer than one day a month. Researchers speculated that Botox may work by blocking pain receptors or reducing inflammation.
In a previous study, published in the journal Pain in 2006, reported that most patients with imploding and ocular headaches responded to Botulinum Toxin A injections with a reduction of their headache frequency, whereas, the majority of patients with exploding type migraines did not respond.
Although Botox is not yet approved for the treatment or prevention of migraine, other doctors and I have found a subset of patients who Botox helps their headache when no other treatments seems to help. Most patients with migraine headaches are willing to obtain Botox injection but one complicating factor is that health insurance generally does not cover for Botox treatment for migraines and the cost of Botox is not insignificant.
