Boulder Concert Band to Celebrate the Season

Boulder, Colorado, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 22, 2011 -- BOULDER, CO – November 22, 2011 – The Boulder Concert Band , one of the premier adult community bands in Colorado, today announced that its holiday concert will take place on December 10 at 7 pm at the Manhattan Middle School of Arts & Academics (map).

Dr. Dana Maurice Biggs, conductor, invites the community to join the Boulder Concert Band as they celebrate the holidays with “Alleluia”, featuring the glorious music of this very special season, including:
• Alfred Reed’s spectacular Russian Christmas Music, composed in Denver in 1947

About Dr. Biggs, Conductor

Dana Maurice Biggs serves as the conductor and musical director of the Boulder Concert Band, and is instructor of music and music education and assistant director of bands at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He received his Masters of Music degree in instrumental conducting from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky and his Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Biggs remains active as a clinician, adjudicator, drill designer and guest conductor throughout the United States.

The first records of a performing band in the city of Boulder date back to 1870. The Boulder Concert Band as we know it today was reorganized in 1976 by the late Hugh McMillen, former Director of Bands at the University of Colorado. Considered to be one of the premier adult community bands in the state, the current organization has over 70 volunteer musicians. Its members are from the business, professional, and educational communities in the Boulder County and Denver metro area.
