One of the biggest concerns regarding silicone implants is the implant rupturing. While we don’t know all the reasons implants rupture some of the most common reasons are related to the implant folding, damage during another surgical procedure or strong force to the chest. While you and your doctor may not immediately know the implant has ruptured, an MRI will show any rupture that may have occurred. Women that choose silicone breast implants are strongly encouraged to have an MRI every few years to check for any ruptures that may have occurred.

Another common question is why are the age restrictions different for silicone and saline implants. The age for silicone implants is 22 while the age women are able to get saline implants is 18. There is an age gap here because the risks involved with each type of implant is different.
