BYOB means "bring your own boat" at Little Briar cottage on Loch Earn in the village of Lochearnhead Scotland.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 2, 2010 --
Self catering and boating holiday enthusiasts should check out Little Briar, a charming south facing stone holiday cottage where small boat launching, mooring, lochside fishing and use of a hot tub are all inclusive. Little Briar Cottage in Perthshire sleeps up to 4 adults plus one pet or "sea dog" welcome .
Joint owner Fraser Proven says "A number of guests bring motor boats, water skis, ringo's, inflatable kayaks and rowing boats. We have double gates at the slipway from the A85 on to Loch Earn and there is plenty of space for cars and trailers on our 3 acre grounds "
Fraser and his wife Kim live on site in Briar Cottage, a 300 year old thatched cottage with a cruck timber ceiling in the lounge (once the cow shed or byre.) The grounds at Loch Earn once belonged to local McGregors, The Earls of Breadalbane and then 200 years of McLarens. The Provens 250ft loch garden has a slipway, summer house, picnic tables and 3 mooring buoys with spectacular views over to Edinample Castle and Glen Ample near Ben Vorlich.
Loch Earn attracts fishing boats, sailing boats and regatta's, canoe's, kayaks, motor boats and the odd Jet Ski at weekends. Hydrofoil air chairs can be seen occasionally and one regular visitor has a wakeboard with an outboard motor attached which looks like the hover board in "Back to the Future".
Active Scotland water sports and activities centre is only 150 metres from the gates, of Briar Cottages within the Clachan Cottage Hotel building. This is convenient for Holiday Cottage enthusiasts who prefer to hire equipment and do their waterskiing and wakeboarding with professionals. Drummond Fishing Boat Hire is two miles along Loch Earn towards St Fillans where fishing boats and tackle can be hired in season.
Loch Earn is 6.5 miles long and it attracts open water swim races, boat races and radio controlled aeroplane events throughout the year. Kim Proven says "Boating and water sports are pleasurable past times however some guests prefer to "splice the main brace" in Briar Cottages loch side garden while spectating. Every day there is something different to look at from Ospreys and Oyster catchers to the resident sea plane taking off and landing"
Briar Cottages Lochearnhead has a few dates left for summer. Contact Fraser and Kim 01567 830 443 to book or enquire and visit www.stayatbriar.co.uk for further details, reviews, availability, photo’s directions and more.
