Britain Rhythmic Gymnast Dream Ended for London Olympics

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 21, 2012 -- The rhythmic gymnastics group of Britain will not be participating in the 2012 London Olympics, as the British Gymnastics board refused their appeal. Parents and team members have made request to the sporting body to consider superior performance in the final round instead of qualifying round.

At the gymnastics test event, the team failed to make self-imposed qualifying mark with 0.273 in group all-round competition. The performance is reduced by a knot in ribbon. The Board of British Gymnastics stated that it refused to nominate team to British Olympic Association for selection.

This would be the first British sport, which has not made agreed qualifying marks. According to the statement, “In accordance with the selection process approved by the BOA (which was agreed and acknowledged by all competing group members), British Gymnastics wishes to confirm that in line with this policy it will not be nominating a rhythmic gymnastics group for inclusion into Team GB for the London 2012 Olympic Games.”
