FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) July 26, 2010 --FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – July 26, 2010 – BALTIMORE, MD – Sandra Silverman and Katherine Jennings recently published the “chick lit” novel Glamour Girls K-9 on Amazon Kindle. It is the story of two women who rescue dogs in need and later get involved with exposing an underground dog-fighting ring. All proceeds from sales of the e-book will go directly to Buck’s Friends.
Buck’s Friends was founded in 2005 by Sandra Silverman and Katherine Jennings after their involvement with multiple dog rescues. The inspiration for the foundation came from Ms. Silverman’s 1998 rescue of a beagle named Buck. Sandra found Buck on a 102 degree mid-summer day in East Baltimore stranded in a filthy rabbit cage. She rescued Buck that same day and became his owner and caretaker for the remaining ten years of his life.
Since 2005 Buck’s Friends has helped place hundreds of rescued dogs into new, loving homes. These dogs would not have made it without the help of Buck’s Friends. The placement of these rescued dogs has also brought joy to their new owners. One new dog owner wrote to Ms. Silverman, “Thank you and Kate [Jennings] for bringing some happiness into my retirement years. Since 1986 when my wife passed away I have lived alone…and a dog has always been a great companion.” A few years later the same man adopted another dog through Buck’s Friends and wrote about his two dogs in a second letter, “They both light up my life.”
Buck’s Friends is a non-profit organization committed to helping animals in need through rescue and new home placement efforts. Buck’s Friends also supports other local and national animal rescue organizations in their efforts to end animal suffering and abuse.
