FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 19, 2011 --
On the weekend of Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th of 2011 the City of Burbank held its annual ARTS Festival. As you would expect of any arts festival it had many beautiful displays of paintings and sketches and magnificent handicrafts. An amazing Peruvian band played as did other musicians. Even the city itself had a booth selling memorabilia in celebration of its 100th anniversary. The weather was a little warm on Saturday and absolutely perfect on Sunday. All wonderful but no big deal. Well not exactly.

http://www.burbankfilmfestival.org For the first time, thanks in large part to great help of Gail Stewart and the entire City of Burbank the Burbank International Film Festival was on hand. One would think that if there was ever a City absolutely perfect for a film festival it would be Burbank, California. When you consider that Burbank is home to Warner Brothers and Disney and immediately adjacent to Universal/NBC it would be unconscionable to think of Burbank not having a film festival. Yet the Burbank International Film Festival is now just in its third year and this was its first appearance at the Burbank ARTS Festival. Everyone wondered what would happen, how would the film festival be received and who might show up?
The results were staggering, far beyond initial expectation. Several hundred film makers, actors, directors and screen writers stopped by to say Hi! Several film makers even brought their creations, their films to submit to this year’s festival which will be from September 15th through the 18th. Here is just a partial list of some of the key visitors to the Burbank International Film Festival booth during the Burbank ARTS Festival.
Mark Kirkland who has directed the smash animated television show, “The Simpsons” for 21 years and who has won three prime time Emmy Awards. Yes, that Mark Kirkland.
Chick Vennera, a very accomplished actor and director with more than 50 film credits including working with Richard Gere and Vanessa Redgrave in “Yanks” and with Robert Redford in “The Milagro Beanfield War” and who is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Yes THAT Academy, the one that hands out that cute golden guy named “Oscar.”
Lou Kleinman, a multi award winning film editor who has worked on more films than most people have seen including “Braveheart” with Mel Gibson, “The Bourne Identity” with Matt Damon and many more. Lou also has two prime time Emmy’s to his credit. He remains active in film making but he now also teaches the black art of film/video editing to eager up and coming film makers at the University of Southern California.
Sean Hampton who may have seen on “The Young & The Restless” or maybe “CSI” or possibly “90210” not only stopped by he brought a film he has both directed and acted in “Doctor Your 12:30 is Here.”
Veteran stage actors Paul Bond and his son Matthew Bond dropped by as did a young new film maker Ace Salavador. In fact as it turned out the event became very much like an “Oscar” party right in beautiful down town Burbank. Heck even the esteemed competition stopped by in the person of the very lovely Tracy Adlai, Program Director of the Valley Film Festival. Maybe Robert Redford will drop by next year.
Burbank International Film Festival Teen Ambassador Kari Irwin was on hand to interview several of the celebrities. You can watch that video on You Tube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rguVeDOMUdI
