FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 5, 2009 -- “Maximising efficiency” message will include a new transmission alongside a range of solutions for alternatively-powered and conventional buses

KORTRIJK, BELGIUM – Allison Transmission, the world’s leading provider of commercial duty automatic transmissions, will present its latest Torqmatic® gearbox at Busworld, Kortrijk (16th -21st October in Hall 8, stand 817). Specific to bus and coach applications, the T375 is ideal for the newer EURO5 engines delivering increased power (up to 360bhp) and 1450Nm torque in the medium-duty range of Allison bus transmissions. The new T375 continues Allison’s committment to offer fuel efficient and durable transmissions to the global bus market.

“As power and torque inputs rise due to increasing vehicle weight, tighter emissions control or demands for greater performance, Allison is expanding its range to help operators improve efficiency whatever size of bus or engine they are running,“ says Allison’s European marketing manager, Manlio Alvaro. “We understand the importance of optimizing for efficiency. Visitors to our Busworld stand will have the opportunity to talk to specialists about choosing the right Allison transmission and about our features to optimize for fuel economy while maintaining the high level of economic efficiency and passenger comfort associated with an Allison automatic.“

Busworld visitors will also have a chance to see how Allison is providing solutions for alternative fuel and power buses. Successfully delivering economy and emissions improvements in over 2200 buses around the world, Allison’s innovative bus and coach hybrid system will be presented. This advanced hybrid is now rolling out across Europe, including the latest release in Optare buses currently on trial in London. For CNG or diesel-fuelled vehicles, experts will be on hand to explain how users can increase their operating performance with a range of optimization tools from Allison such as specific calibration or software solutions including Load Based Shift Scheduling (LBSS), Reduced Engine Load at Stop (RELS), Super Economy Shift Schedule (SESS) and industry leading Prognostic features.

Allison introduced the first commercial duty automatic transmission for city buses in 1946. Since that time, the use of Allison automatics has expanded significantly in the global market. In 2008, Allison sold over 50,000 transmissions, including nearly 14,000 for city buses alone. Responding specifically to local requirements, backed by local engineering and sales support, the firm is increasingly recognised as a trusted partner for both OEM and operator alike. “We welcome OEMs, operators, drivers, and maintenance representatives to visit our stand to find out how we can help them improve efficiency, whatever their bus or operating environment,” concludes Alvaro.
