Diamond View is one of a group of eight bvi rental villas that comprise Sandy Ground Estates on the eastern end of Jost Van Dyke. The villas, which share a private beach and dock, are set in 17 acres of lush tropical grounds and were designed by the English architect Michael Helm, whose firm remains active in the area.

The house benefits from a quiet, natural setting, with a near-constant breeze, which keeps sand flies and bugs to a minimum and makes for an enchanting and compelling Caribbean ambience.

The villa's two double bedrooms feature king-size beds, but there is also a pull-out sofa-bed in the living room that can accommodate an extra two sleepers if so desired.

Diamond view has a fully-equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher and microwave, as well as a stove-top espresso maker for those of us who can't go for long periods of time without well-made coffee.

Diamond View has one bathroom, with a cloistered outdoor shower.

The beach is about a three-to-five-minute stroll away.

It should be noted that Diamond View is not a full-service villa, but is managed by husband-and-wife caretakers Nadine and LeRoy Isaac. Nadine and LeRoy live on Sandy Ground Estates, look after the grounds, maintain the villas, and are on hand to assist and advise during your stay.

A distinctive feature of staying at Diamond View is the house's capacity to combine extremely private and tranquil isolation with relative proximity to Jost Van Dyke's other notable attractions. Needless to say, there are a variety of interesting and absorbing activities to try while staying at Diamond View.

White Bay. White Bay's pristinely white beach is not be missed, especially considering it routinely gets voted one of the Caribbean's most impressive beaches. Stop, along the way, at the aptly named Great Harbour, home to the quintessential beach bar, Foxy's -- now a major Caribbean cultural force.

Coral Reefs. A spectacular reef extends the length of our beach providing incredible snorkeling amid ultimate privacy. Diamond View also comes with a kayak, which is great for exploring some of the small cays dotted around the bay. There is a well-appointed dive shop in Great Harbour, too, if underwater's your thang.
