Cabaret duo Carrick and Brooks to perform new show Songs with a Twist of Lime in Omaha

Omaha, Nebraska, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) September 22, 2011 -- Popular Omaha entertainers Mary Carrick and Todd Brooks will perform their latest Broadway-themed cabaret show, Songs with a Twist of Lime, at the Pizza Shoppe Collective in Omaha’s neighborhood of Benson on Sunday, September 25th at 7:00 p.m.

This marks the Omaha debut of the show Carrick and Brooks have already launched outside of Omaha. Having performed as a cabaret duo for the past four years, they're now taking their act on the road with bookings across Nebraska and Iowa.

Songs with a Twist of Lime, the latest installment from this dynamic pair, featuring an eclectic blend of classic and contemporary show tunes, numbers from the Great American Songbook, and other whimsical, humorous gems served up with theatrical flair.

Selections include songs by Stephen Sondheim, Jason Robert Brown, Frank Loesser, Jule Styne, Irving Berlin, Charles Aznavour, Fats Waller, and Christine Lavin, among many others.

"Todd and I are tickled to finally bring what we feel is our best show to date to the Omaha audience," says Carrick. "We promise great music, some twists and turns, and of course a dash of silliness for good measure. We may even invite the audience to sing along!"

Carrick says audiences can expect a show that strikes a balance between the known and the relatively unknown as well as the poignant with humorous fare. “I think that’s really part of the fun – experiencing something new or hearing a song performed in a different and unique way. And we’ll have some laughs. Getting away from the stressors of day-to-day life for a short period of time – that’s what live entertainment is all about.”

In addition to touring their cabaret acts across the region, Carrick and Brooks are active with theatres and professional arts organizations throughout the Omaha metropolitan area, including Opera Omaha, the Omaha Symphony, Omaha Community Playhouse, and many others. They were recognized with the Outstanding Cabaret Award from the Omaha Theatre Arts Guild in 2008.

Most recently, Carrick appeared as “Mother Abbess” in “The Sound of Music” at The Rose Theatre in Omaha, one of the largest professional children’s theatre’s in the country. She’s also a frequent performer with Opera Omaha and will be covering the role of “Gertrude” in the company’s production of “Hansel and Gretel” this Fall. Brooks is an accomplished director, music director, and arranger.
