Calabash Consortium's U.S. Launch in New York a Huge Success with Support from International Icons 
International Icons Geoffrey Holder and Humanitarian Wyclef Jean join in Glitzy Affair to Launch The Calabash Consortium.

New York, NY - May 21, 2010 - Geoffrey Holder , Caribbean luminary and international icon mesmerized guests with his presence and address at the Calabash Consortium's U.S. launch titled "The Sailing" at the New York Times Center last Friday. The event featured riveting performances from Ano Okera , Earl Brooks Jr. , Jewel Allison and dance company Something Positive Inc . Wyclef Jean addressed guests via video urging them to give back to the youth of the Caribbean.
The event was patronized by a number of distinguished guests who included Consul Generals from various Caribbean countries, of which Hon. Genevieve Brown Metzger , Jamaican Consul General addressed guests. Other notable guests included icon model Shaun Ross , members of the sensational Hip Rock Soul group New Terrace Heights , power-players from various organizations, corporate sponsors, philanthropic leaders and impassioned humanitarians concerned with helping Caribbean youths. The event was hosted by Dahved Levy , WBLS radio personality, who also served as the nights' live auctioneer.
The Calabash Consortium's Founder and Convener, Geoff K. Cooper noted that the event was a huge success. "We were blessed by God to have been able to bring this vision to fruition, we are thankful for the tremendous support of so many. Now our attention turns toward cultivating better outcomes for Caribbean youths and communities," noted Cooper.
Attendees were also treated to delicious Caribbean cuisine and delightful cocktails featuring the event's lead liquor sponsor Alizé . The surprise live auction, conducted by Dahved Levy, was well received with pieces ranging from hotel stays at the Standard Hotel , Hollywood and the Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada to autographed paraphernalia from the world's fastest man and triple Olympic gold medalist, Jamaican sprinter Usain "The Lightening" Bolt . More items were auctioned off throughout the night including beautiful coffee table books by MACO Caribbean Homes . Every guest left with an event gift bag filled with goodies from Alizé, MACO Caribbean Living Magazine and the Caribbean Tourism Organization , to name a few.
Some of the sponsors who were responsible for the nights' success included: Alizé, Americana Vodka, Beyoncé Parfums, Claudia Pegus Designs Ltd., DEX Cosmetics, Diana Des Bois P.R., Giorgio Armani Cosmetics, MACO Caribbean Living Magazine, Monroe College, the Standard Hotel and Spice Island Beach Resort .
