FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 8, 2010 --

The Calabash Consortium will hold its inaugurating Symposium for the Young Women’s Education & Empowerment Program ("YWEEP") on Saturday 13, November, 2010 at the Cascadia Hotel and Conference Centre, Port of Spain, and Trinidad. YWEEP is an initiative predicated on harnessing the resources and power of empowered women, to positively change the lives of less empowered young women. Specifically designed for young women ages 15-29, YWEEP aims to educate, expose and empower young women to make decisions about their lives and take appropriate and responsible action to improve their life prospects.

The YWEEP symposium is a one-day forum which comprises activities and workshops designed to empower young women through skills-building, education and exposure to the myriad possibilities available to them. The aim is to provide a constructive platform through which young women can obtain valuable information that will inspire and motivate them to develop their inherent potential, regardless of their stage or station in life.

The theme of this year's YWEEP Symposium is "I am Powerful - She has the power to change her world; You have the power to help her do it." Thus, the event will bring phenomenally empowered women, local and from the Diaspora to the fore to empower less empowered young women. Invited speakers for the symposium includes: the Prime Minister, the Honourable Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, U.S. Ambassador Beatrice Welters, Miss Universe 1998 Wendy Fitzwilliam, Miss World 1986 Mrs. Giselle Laronde West, Toute Bagai Publishing's Founder, Ms. Neysha Soodeen, Grand Master of Fashion Design, Ms. Meiling Esau, the Housing Development Corporation's CEO Ms. Jearlean John and the list goes on.

YWEEP’s endeavours to be programmatically sound in its design and was constructed with the local female demographic as its primary target. Some of the power-packed sessions of the symposium include: Girl Talk: Sisters Speak - Secrets of Empowerment - How I became EMPOWERE, Living, Not Existing: Passion, Purpose, Possibility, The Vessel - Young Woman’s Health and Wellness, Financial Empowerment - Female Empowerment, Women in Business - From Women Who Mean Business and MYjOURney ™!
