In December 2008, the law firm of Cameron, Davis & Gonzalez successfully defended a large orthopedic medical practice in an action brought against it for claimed violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The practice was sued by a deaf woman claiming that she had been denied equal treatment under the law based upon the practice's failure to accommodate her disability through the provision of auxiliary aids in a local hospital. The case was tried in the Federal District Court of the Southern District of Florida by Glenn S. Cameron and Deirdre B. Marroney of Cameron, Davis & Gonzalez. At the conclusion of all the evidence Cameron, Davis & Gonzalez filed a Rule 50 motion for judgment as a matter of law in favor of the orthopedic practice. Judge Gonzalez granted Cameron, Davis & Gonzalez's motion finding that Plaintiff had failed to prove that the surgeon or the practice had discriminated against Plaintiff in any way. After the clients of Cameron, Davis & Gonzalez were dismissed from the case, it proceeded to the jury which found against the defendant hospital in favor of Plaintiff.
