Camp vicious damned funny and its about Opera?

It should never come as a surprise when gay broadcasters top popularity polls or break into new fields. In the UK, Graham Norton, Julian Clarey, Alan Carr, Gok Wan have been popular on Television. A stream of X Factor and Pop Idols stars have all come out. On the radio Dale Winton is as popular as ever. Nevertheless, a show on Opera which is both serious in its review of a sometimes stuffy musical genre has delivered ratings that Global City Radio could not possibly have anticipated.

http://www.globalcityradio.com Opera Now, on Global City Radio every Friday at 10pm is camp, at times wickedly funny and even a tad waspish. It features Michael Rice with a host of co presenters, all of whom perform opera but more importantly hold strong opinions.
They have features such as Which operas need new recordings?......Meryl Streep breathes with her back, Oliver's Corner -( a forensic review of a great opera) and the tasteless but wickedly funny " Guess Who Died (or didn't..!)" Global City Radio has enormous appeal to the UK's 45 and over demographic and those who enjoy an eclectic range of music including Opera , Classical and Audio Drama. Opera Now which is a two hour show airs earlier in the US, however, because of some occasional outbursts of adult language the show was moved from 6pm until 10pm in the UK resulting in a growing audience.
Richard J Hannah , Commercial Director for the Station commissioned the show and told us " We got a bit of reaction at 6pm. Lots of listeners were upset saying that OperaNow was taking Opera too lightly. I had commissioned the show on recommendations of those who had heard the Podcast and Michael Rice, its producer and main presenter did advise me to move it to a later slot. We did and we are so glad we rode the initial storm. Its a cracking show, always makes me smile. I like Opera and these broadcasters are seriously knowledgeable and talented in their own right. The camp repartee is great and the banter between the female presenters, Michael who is the 'straight man' and 'butt of the jokes' ( two puns there sorry) is worth a listen." Theshow in 8 weeks is one of the station's top five most listened to shows behind "Drive Time' and Hannah's own late night show.
Opera Now is running for a full three month season on Global City Radio every Friday night at 10pm. Come and join the fun whether you like Opera or not.
