(Free-Press-Release.com) August 25, 2009 --
August 25, 2009, Boston – CampusCompare, the popular college search engine, today announced the launch of the College Current. An integrated feature of CampusCompare, the College Current is a unique way to gain a multi-faceted, real time look at any college. Simply select a school and the College Current displays a real-time mash-up of video, image, student reviews, and blog results, plus the Twitter conversation taking place at that given moment. Click “Just the Facts” to round out the picture with the official story, as published by that college and the Department of Education.
“By combining user-generated content with information published by the schools and the Department of Education, the College Current provides an in-depth picture of college life,” explains Maxine Grossman, Senior VP, Business Development. “Say you’ve always been drawn to Brown University but aren’t sure what to expect. Simply search for ‘Brown’ on CampusCompare and the College Current instantly reveals a mosaic of real-time results that help you discover what that school is really like.”
Since its launch in 2008, CampusCompare has helped hundreds of thousands of prospective students discover their ‘best-fit’ college, a term that has been gaining popularity as students (and parents and counselors) shift away from college rankings and towards finding a college that fits their individual preferences, academic and financial criteria.
At CampusCompare, users search by what matters to them. Looking for a school with women’s rodeo? Seeking a nursing degree at a community college? Want to major in engineering? The site’s clean design and easy navigation makes it a breeze to search for schools by Sport, State, Career, or Major. The powerful search tool instantly returns relevant options from its database of over 3500 four-year and two-year colleges. Interactive sliders let users narrow down their results to select choices, zeroing-in on schools within a desirable range for tuition, student body size and admissions criteria.
Users can bookmark schools of interest using Facebook Connect. “I love that I don’t need to remember another password,” says Tali Farine, a high-school senior at The York School. “I discovered some interesting colleges that I hadn’t thought of, and used my Facebook username and password to save and share them with friends.”
CampusCompare offers an interactive experience that truly engages its users. College Current adds to the popular free apps available on the site: What Are My Chances?,’ ‘Financial Aid Calculator’ and ‘Compare Schools’.
