Chronic diseases often originate due to mutations formed in the genes. Studies have been going on to identify such mutations enabling a better understanding of how molecule mechanisms work in causing diseases. Our Canada pharmacy follows up on the recent study revealing gene mutations like BRCA1 and BRCA2 increased the risk of ovarian and breast cancers in women; however, the same mutations affected health differently.
Researchers from the University of Texas based at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston found BRCA2 mutations lead to a better survival rate among women as compared to BRCA1 or other mutations found in genes. Ovarian cancer patients demonstrated better response to chemotherapy increasing the rate of survival. The same results were not indicated through BRCA1 mutations.
Identification of genes mutations is vital in devising precise treatment for chronic illnesses such as cancer. Earlier, the chromosomal region consisting of hundreds of mutated genes could be identified. In the year 2008, researchers used gene expression data related to gene activity in the cell lines and tissues to identify genes leading to 81 diseases. It was found experimental verification became mandatory to come up with a treatment plan in each case.
In the present study, 316 women suffering from ovarian cancer were studied. Investigations included gathering clinical and genetic data released by the Cancer Genome Atlas Project in the years 2009 - 2010. Researchers found 29 women with the BRCA2 mutations showed better response to chemotherapy in comparison to other volunteers without the mutation.
Our Canada pharmacy noted the BRCA2-mutated group survived five years after chemotherapy. Results accounted for 61% of the women in comparison to 25% without BRCA2 mutations. Comparison on a shorter term presented a 44% survival rate over a period of three years in comparison to 16% without BRCA2. Women identified with breast cancer at the early stages often buy Femara, if recommended.
Elsewhere, Canadian scientists taking part one of the world's biggest cancer research efforts have identified four mutated genes causing chronic lymphocytic leukemia, one of the most common types of leukemia, also known as cancer of the bone marrow and blood. Researchers from 13 countries have gathered to work in sync and analyze 500 keyword genomes existing in 50 common cancers. Results clearly indicate cancerous growth affects organs less and is rather moving towards mutations being formed. If researchers are able to identify the type of mutation in the gene, it becomes the basis for devising therapy for patients suffering from any form of cancer.
Understanding how BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations cause cancer in the body will help researchers devise more effective treatments for ovarian cancer. Also, difference in survival rates between carriers of the two mutations is bound to encourage further research in finding out faster cure by isolating the BRCA2, if found to be existing in patients.
Why the body repairs itself faster when it comes to a particular mutated gene in comparison to another needs to be understood better, feels Canada pharmacy. Research being in Canada along in conjunction with other studies is bound to provide more insight into the way genes get modified in the human body leading to chronic illnesses like cancer. It is just a matter of time before cancer becomes fully treatable on account of better understanding of gene mutations.
