Donations (Are) Needed to Expand Funny Bunny Pet Sanctuary.
I am in the process of starting a non-profit rabbit sanctuary, this is a childhood dream coming true.
The sanctuary is trying to expand, land is coming up for sale and it would help the sanctuary with hay, pasture and fruit trees. I have sold 2 pieces of land and saved every dime I could for years and the barn will take all the money I have. This land would help the sanctuary be more self supportive. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, no matter the amount.
When I was in the 6th grade my Dad caught 2 bunnies(not knowing one was pregnant with 8 babies)
when our neighbors turned loose their bunnies because thet were moving.
So many people think that
their tame bunnies can survive in the wild. Then I got a baby bunny from my cousin because
he had a birth defect.I have always had a place in my heart for special needs animals.
Then about 10 years ago I had 2 bunnies and 1 past away, the neighbor's kids had 2 bunnies and
when I found out that they had went 4 days
without food I told them that I would like to have them to go with my bunny. They were so skittish
they did not even like to be petted. The bunnies were no longer little and cute they were growing
and now they scared the kids, so the kids did not want anything to do with them. Bunnies do not make good gifts especially for small children.
They both died shortly after I had them due to health problems. So I got another bunny to go with
my other bunny and only had her for a few days when they were attacked by a bear or bobcat.
A few years later I got two baby bunnies from a local feed store at Easter time, they were so small
that I was not sure theywere even eating,
so I mixed up some baby cereal and feed them for the next few days until they were able to eat
on their own. As I held the babies and feed them my allergies would kick in, so I said a little pray,
" I want to take care of Your little creatures, I can not do it if I am this miserable." Not saying I never
sneeze but my allergies do not bother me now.
I still have these two and Snuggles only has three legs now due to a very unfortunate accident, Munchkin
has kidney stones and I have to watch his diet very closely and give him extra water with a dropper.
Bunnies bought has Easter gifts are a bad idea because they are usually breed just so the breeder can make a
few quick dollars. They are not worried about the health of the bunny.
I was told about a lady who could not keep here bunny anymore and her parents were moving and could not keep him
either.
He needed to go to the vet and everybody there talked about what a great bunny he was, even if he did
bite a hole in the vets pants.
Then along came Hunny Bunny,
she was breed for her meat. She was in a cage
with 18 other bunnies, not able to get enough food she was underweight. The breeder was going to hit her
in the head and throw her away, someone brought her to me. She is still aggressive about her food and not good
with the other bunnies but she makes me smile everytime I go to feed them.
Sad news Hunny Bunny past away, she will be missed.
I adopted Ben from a friend I meet on bunspace, he loves to be petted and enjoys being around people and he gets along with the other bunnies.. He gets so excited when I open the bag with his treats inside."
Contrary to Easter-time hype, rabbits and small children aren't a good match. The exuberance of even the gentlest toddler is stressful for the sensitive rabbit.
