Candidly Candace talks with Afghanistan female author and survivor!

Farooka Gauhari joins Candidly Candace on Sunday, October 18, 2009 to talk about her book and her experiences as an Afghani woman during the civil war in Afghanistan. Farooka recorded her experiences in her memoir "Searching for Saleem: An Afghan Woman's Odyssey". At the time of her book's publication, no Afghani woman had ever published a memoir in the English language. In her memoir, she talks about her search for her missing husband and watching her homeland being destroyed. She eventually decided to leave her country and take her family to create a new life in a new country, ccountry that was very hostile towards Muslims.

Join Candidly Candace when she talks about Farooka's moving experiences as she talks about life in her country during the civil war, her struggle as an educated Afghani woman, her search for her husband and her life in a new county that didn't quite understand her.
