Capstone President speaks at University of North Carolina at Asheville

Asheville, North Carolina, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) September 14, 2011 -- Capstone Consultants’ president Shaun Hogan spoke at UNC Asheville’s Carol Belk Theater on the importance of the entrepreneurial mindset in the artistic community.

Capstone is Charlotte’s fastest growing marketing firm whose growth and success is coupled with the launch of a new non-profit arts education company, Occasio. Programs are designed to help emerging teenage artists build their brand and cross over into the professional world.

“Artists’ are entrepreneurs, they start from absolutely nothing, and they have to earn their living based on their production. Yet the education of the artist is based solely on the craft or medium, not how to succeed,” Shaun said. UNCA asked Shaun to speak because he’d found success in the art world through entrepreneurship and leadership training provided by Capstone Consultants.

The staff and former students were also in attendance, one of the professors commented, “College students today are trained to be employees, doesn’t seem to make much sense when jobs are getting harder and harder to come by, why not focus on developing self-reliance, teach people to create, build and grow the jobs for tomorrow.”

Shaun took the time to show the power of thinking like an entrepreneur, being a “self-reliant problem solver” with resolve, passion and aggressive goals. Shaun also explained the importance of being a business minded individual in the art community “The art world is full of people waiting to share their gifts with the world; unfortunately it’s also filled with people trying to take advantage of those gifts.

We are not a dependent industry, we don’t depend on the economy, we don’t depend on era or region, art has transcended all of those conditions. It is an independent industry and it needs leaders, just like any other.”

Capstone Consultants was founded in 2007 as a marketing firm concentrating on acquisition and retention of new customers for their clients.
