Why You’ve Gone on a Dozen Interviews and Were Not Hired, being held on Oct. 29th in New York City answers the #1 question job seekers have about the hiring process. The presenter, Crystal Cotton, a Career development Coach and President of Crystal Clear Connextions, is going to shed the light on job seekers, revealing some of the things employers don’t tell you about whom they hire and who they don’t. She's hoping to remove some despair job seekers feel when the job search process becomes a revolving door of interviews, but no offers. The seminar takes place on Oct. 29th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at 1290 Avenue of the Americas, AXA Advisors Headquarters (in the Big Apple Meeting Room). Cost is $25. Pre-registration is required.
When asked why this topic is so important, Crystal, with 20 years of experience in Human Resources and Staff Development points to the obvious, “unemployment rates at its highest in 35 years (over 10% in NYC and 9.7% nationally), tight competition in a job market; there are more job seekers than viable jobs.” It’s Imperative in these economic times that people know what can go wrong during a job interview, so that they can make it right. Crystal adds, “The worst thing for a job seeker, is not knowing why you weren’t hired when all things considered, you had the qualifications.” Crystal’s experience has shown her that there are controllable factors that influence the decision, beyond qualifications. But, employers are not always comfortable telling an applicant what they’ve done wrong, so that they can get better at interviewing. “If no one ever tells you what you’ve done wrong, how can you ever get it right?”
In an effort to help job seekers increase their chances of getting hired, Crystal is offering this seminar to help people communicate and connect with employers on a level that increases success, and empowers them to promote themselves. “I’ve spoken with many of my colleagues and asked for their input on what they look for in job applicants, collected war stories about what job seekers have done which hurt their chances, and drew from my own experiences on both sides of the desk, as the interviewer and job seeker. It all comes down to communicating your value to a potential employer, and that’s what this seminar will teach job seekers.”
