Columbus, OH – August 14, 2009 – Boldly Go Career and Human Resources Management announces the release of Career Boot Camp: A self-directed guide through career transition to provide career seekers with an affordable alternative to career coaching. This self-directed course, does what no other career books do – combines all the outcomes of a career coaching program into 8 modules packed with multimedia, worksheets and exercises, and supplemental and bonus materials covering everything from “Finding Your Focus” to “Negotiating the Job Offer.” A companion website is packed with additional helpful career resources and anyone who purchases Career Boot Camp will also have weekly access to a career coach through the bonus Weekly Reveille call for spot coaching, support and encouragement. A launch party is scheduled at Crimson Cup Coffee, 4541 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214 on August 24, 4:30-6:30 p.m. EST and anyone interested in attending can RSVP to info@boldlygocoaching.com

Why Career Boot Camp? According to Sharon DeLay, the author of the course, “My goal is to make career coaching accessible and affordable for everyone. Too often, people in career transition struggle with the next steps when they lose their jobs, and this tool provides a comprehensive approach to what they would receive if they were to spend 3 times as much money for private coaching.” This tool is also an excellent resource for small businesses who can’t afford to provide their departing employees the more expensive services from the large outplacement companies out there.

Career Boot Camp: A self-directed guide through career transition is packed with 7 modules of information leading participants through a structured career coaching process and covers:

Finding your Focus: Boot Campers complete two modules, which they then use to begin exploring options that will help them begin to answer the question, “What do you want to do when you grow up?” Combined with the next module, these two modules provide a foundation of career research and the formulation of a document that underpins the rest of the career transition.

Writing your Job Description: In this module, participants will continue to conduct research through a variety of exercises and begin bringing it all together into their own customized job description that not only defines their ideal job, but also what they want from an employer in terms of culture. This module also includes an eye-opening time management exercise that helps outline a more management career transition plan.

Résumé Real Estate™: Writing a résumé is part art and part science, but it should never be a frustrating mystery! This module explains the generally-accepted design and writing principles behind résumés that, once learned, should serve the career seeker now and going forward.

Networking Nuts and Bolts: Too many people resist networking because they think it’s a dirty word, yet most jobs today are found through this critical channel. This module is devoted to taking the fear out of networking by developing a networking strategy that begins with those people we already know, like and trust. It includes developing a script of what to say…and what not to say.

Using Social Media in Your Job Search: We keep hearing about how LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook are invaluable career search tools and this module not only helps Boot Campers set up their profiles on these three tools, but also walks them through the key ways to use each to increase their visibility. It’s not about what you know or who you know, it’s about who knows you.

Interviewing Ins and Outs: In this module we cover the tips and techniques behind successful interviewing, including dissecting some of the more common interview questions and explaining the different types of interviews, including the twist on the group interview and the demonstration interview – an interview style that is making a comeback. This module also includes video segments and puts the Boot Camper in the career coach seat!

Negotiating the Offer: In this module participants will develop a simple approach to negotiating the job offer, often considered one of the most uncomfortable parts of the selection process. This module presents negotiating from a practical approach that, once completed, will help participants identify exactly what they want and need and why.

An 8th section contains bonus materials including a 20-page mock interview guide that helps Boot Campers plan and complete their own mock interviews to improve their interview technique, as well as several other resources. Also included in Career Boot Camp: A self-directed guide through career transition:

* 7 companion CDs of over 6 hours of multi-media content containing synced audio files and PowerPoints walking Boot Campers through each module.

* A bonus 8th CD containing all exercises and the Career Transition Journal in Word or PDF formats for easy access to extra copies.

* All audio recordings converted to .mp3 format for easy downloading to listen to anywhere.
• All PowerPoints and audio files transcribed for extra portability and anyone with hearing impairments.

* Weekly Reveille, a live, weekly call-in session where Boot Campers can call to speak to a credentialed career coach for the extra push, a little encouragement, or even some spot coaching.

* A password-protected participant website that includes electronic copies of additional resources such as résumé samples, blogs and short articles on career transition, and a participant discussion board to ask questions and share job leads.
