Fisher King Press To Release New Anthology of Essays About Often Fiery Inner Journeys And Personal Transformation
CARMEL, CA (February 15, 2012): A new anthology titled Marked By Fire: Stories of The Jungian Way will be available this Spring by publisher Fisher King Press. Co-editors are the Jungian analysts and authors Patricia Damery and Naomi Ruth Lowinsky, PhD. The collection of essays in the book reveal the contributing authors’ experiences of their inner journeys and tell stories of the “fiery process of becoming ourselves”, and how they found their way to Carl Jung and themselves.
When Soul appeared to C.G. Jung and demanded he change his life, he opened himself to the powerful forces of the unconscious. He recorded his inner journey, his conversations with figures that appeared to him in vision and in dream in The Red Book. Although it would be years before The Red Book was published, much of what we now know as Jungian psychology began in those pages when Jung allowed the irrational to assault him.
Marked By Fire answers the question of how people who are dedicated to Jung’s psychology respond to Soul’s demands in their own lives. The essays are descriptions of the authors’ own paths, individual and unique, yet also with a common element in being guided eventually to, and then by, the philosophy of C.G. Jung. Contributors to the book are writers, teachers, and analysts and include Jerome Bernstein, Claire Douglas, Gilda Frantz, Jacqueline Gerson, Jean Kirsch, Chie Lee, Karlyn Ward, Henry Abramovitch, Sharon Heath, Dennis Patrick Slattery, Robert Romanyshyn, and the book’s editors Patricia Damery and Naomi Ruth Lowinsky. Marked By Fire is a book for all those who are drawn to a spiritual way of understanding their lives, those who are interested in Depth Psychology, Buddhists, mystics, spiritual seekers, and people who were interested in the Red Book and curious about Jung and Jungians.
About the editors: Naomi Lowinsky is the author of The Sister from Below: When the Muse Gets Her Way, and The Motherline: Every Woman’s Journey to Find Her Female Roots. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize three times and is the recipient of the 2009 Obama Millennium Poetry award for "Madelyn Dunham, Passing On;” Adagio & Lamentation is Naomi's third poetry collection and gift to her ancestors. She is a Jungian analyst in private practice in California as well as poetry and fiction editor of Psychological Perspectives. Patricia Damery is a published author of several articles and poems as well as a book detailing her analytic training and simultaneous entry into biodynamic farming, a book about both spiritual and psychological reckoning: Farming Soul: A Tale of Initiation. Her novel, Snakes, was published by Fisher King Press in March 2011, and her children's novel, Goatsong, is to be published in 2012.
Marked By Fire will be available in paperback and eBook editions, and advance orders are welcome through the Fisher King website, www.fisherkingpress.com. END ###
