Cascades thought turn to the Queens anniversary of her accession to the throne.

On the 6th February 1952, King George VI died unexpectedly in his sleep, forcing Princess Elizabeth and her husband to cut short their tour of Kenya and return to England as Queen. She was welcomed back to English soil by the then Prime Minister, Winston Churchill.

A source from Cascade says: “It’s quite amazing to think of the technological advances that have happened since the young Elizabeth came to the throne”
It has been reported on Sky news that when Elizabeth came to the throne, only 75% of houses had baths, hardly any had telephones and the average house price was just £2000.
The queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have made plans to travel as much as possible during her diamond jubilee year, and several other royals have numerous tours to complete around the world as well. No doubt this will bring some great publicity to our shores.

Celebrations are set to span 4 days in June, once the weather (with a bit of luck, and fingers crossed!) is warmer, and no doubt will be a time for British patriotism to come out in full force on our little island. As one thing we can safely say we British do very well, is pomp!
