Cats have been proved to have better hearing than dogs. More dogs are kept as pets than cats worldwide although the total numbers of each is about the same due to lots of multiple cat owners. Cats will meow for us more than for other cats. When yours meows, they are trying to communicate with you. They do not typically meow when they are with each other. Cats have been around humans for thousands of years and the Egyptians worshiped them, mummified them and it was a serious crime to hurt a cat in those days.
