Cathy Cardenas Appointented as New President for the Abuse Prevention Foundation for Women, Children and Animals

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 5, 2010 -- The Abuse Prevention Foundation, a 501-C3 non-profit charity that works to help prevent the abuse and neglect of women, children and animals through education and action, officially announces the appointment of Cathy Cardenas as their new volunteer president.

Cathy Cardenas is the President of Designer Home Tending and The Cathy Cardenas Company. Cardenas has been instrumental in the development of several projects for women and children’s shelters including The WCA in Boise, The YWCA in Salt Lake City, The Shade Tree in Las Vegas and the Alexandria House in Los Angeles. Cardenas created a nationally recognized program called “Transforming Rooms Transforming Lives” which gives complete room make-overs to women and children’s shelters, including an Ethiopian refugee family’s home.

Cardenas also developed a bi-annual event called “Military Wives Makeover” where 25 wives whose husbands were deployed are treated to a shopping and make-over day and then recognized at a tribute dinner in honor of their sacrifices. Cardenas has received national and international attention for her projects and plans on bringing that same media attention to the Abuse Prevention Foundation. Cardenas is a single mother of two.

"It's so important for people to be educated and take action to prevent abuse and neglect for all living things on this planet,” said the charity’s founder Stephany Alexander. “And I am thrilled to be announcing our new president, Cathy Cardenas, at our upcoming annual fundraiser,” she added. “Cathy’s outstanding business and charity experience will make her a valuable addition to our growing organization.”

The Abuse Prevention foundation has provided help and care to women, children and animals who have been abused, neglected or victims of domestic violence. The Abuse Prevention Foundation chooses various local and national organizations each year to support. Past projects have included writing educational abuse prevention articles for women, working with local animals shelters, zoos and international ocean preservation groups and transforming an Ethiopian family’s refugee home, the latter project spearheaded by Cardenas. In Cardenas’ new role, she will have oversight over abuse prevention projects, family support programs, research and fund development, fundraising events and public relations.
“I am honored and excited to fill the role as president for the Abuse Prevention Foundation,” said Cardenas. “It’s exciting to be part of an organization that does good in so many different areas where I can utilize my business experience.”
