Most of the dental problems like cavities, gum disease, tooth decay, bad breath, sensitive teeth and bleeding gums have single root most of the time; following unhygienic techniques to clean the teeth and interdental gaps. This article will explain how the tooth cavities and dental decay happens and what could be the ways to prevent it. All what it requires is to choose a right toothbrush, brushing gently and properly twice a day and using interdental brush to clean the gaps between the teeth.
Improper cleaning of the teeth produces sticky substance on the teeth surface. This substance is known as a plaque. On a longer run plaque causes bad breath problems and the bacterial growth inside plaque releases acids that cause erosion of the teeth and gum that ultimately results into cavities and enamel problem.
Few teeth, depending on where they are located inside the mouth and depending on it’s shape and size; are more susceptible to denture problems like cavity and sensitivity. For example the tooth at the end of the denture is trickier to reach and difficult to clean as compare to other teeth. Such teeth have higher chances of plaque accumulation and so for cavities and tooth decay. But the good news is that human body is constantly aiding and neutralizing the damaging effect caused by the bacteria. This process is done with the help of human saliva. This saliva contains chemicals that neutralize the acid damage and also minerals that repair the damaged of the teeth.
In order to maintain the stronger teeth and healthier gum there are few things we can do regularly. It includes cleaning of teeth properly with right size of the brush, brushing at least twice a day and not more than three times and cleaning interdental gaps that have the highest chances of collection of residual food debris. The brushing regularly is not enough but the selection of right tooth brush is also important. One should choose a size and shape of toothbrush matching to it’s denture size. The smaller brush is better as it can move easily inside the mouth and can reach to the end of the denture where larger size toothbrush cannot reach easily. Also the use of interdental brush or floss is important to clean the gaps between the teeth. These smaller gaps are very crucial to clean as most of the time it acts as a starting point of the teeth problems. However, flossing is little difficult to do every time you eat and it may bleed the gums if not done properly. While interdental toothbrush is easier to use and can be more effective if used after every meal.
Moreover to this cleaning of teeth and gaps in-between, the important things to follow is to reduce the food intake that causes more chances of teeth problems. Such foods are sugary food and drinks and especially chocolate. Reduce such food as much as possible and try to take healthier alternatives instead.
On the top of above advice, make sure you visit your dentist on regular basis so if there is any indication of teeth disease; it will be spot on in early stages and can medicate correctly. Also follow some hygienic steps like brushing twice a day and more importantly before going to sleep. Also change tooth brush regularly to get better cleaning of teeth.
