Cayman Chemical Licenses LifeSensors’ SUMO Platforms, Launches New Products

More products are in the pipeline and scheduled for release in coming months. Several thousand Cayman research kits and specialty chemicals are prepared and tested by Cayman in Michigan before being distributed to scientists throughout the world.

Discovered and developed by LifeSensors, Small Ubiquitin-like MOdifier (SUMO) expression systems (1) enhance the quantity of protein by preventing nascent protein degradation; (2) enhance the quality of protein by acting as a nucleation site for proper folding of target proteins; (3) enhance solubility via the hydrophilic C- and N-termini; and (4) facilitate simple purification using SUMO proteases that cleave all junctions to generate native N-termini.

As cost-effective solutions for routine and rare protein production, the scalability of SUMOpro™ and SUMOstar™ platforms also accommodates growth from research grade processes to industrial and commercial manufacturing. By enhancing expression, folding and solubility of recombinant peptides and proteins, SUMO-fusions simplify optimization steps. Scientists are free to optimize their production in prokaryotes and in eukaryotes – both intracellular and secretory cells.
