FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
West Hollywood,
California,
United States of America
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 9, 2011 --The Vice Presidents of CBS Outdoor and Clear Channel Outdoor (the largest Billboard Companies in the U.S.) are
also the Chief Executives of "Concerned Neighbors Against Illegal Billboards", a front for the Billboard Companies to
deceive the voters of West Hollywood into voting No on Measure A on the March, 2011 ballot.
John Duong is the President of "Concerned Neighbors Against Illegal Billboards" and the Vice President of Clear Channel Outdoor.
Ryan Brooks is the Secretary & Chief Financial Officer of "Concerned Neighbors Against Illegal Billboards" and the Vice President
of CBS Outdoor.
Neither executives are residents of West Hollywood.
Billboard Companies are spending a fortune to deceive voters and defeat Measure A.
Measure A is a 7% Tax on Billboard Companies in West Hollywood that will generate an estimated $5 Million dollars annually
for the Residents and City of West Hollywood.
Measure A is modeled after Philadelphia Billboard Tax that has been successfully in place for over 5 years. Since 2005
the People and City of Philadelphia have financially benefited from the 7% Tax on Billboards in their City.
Major Billboard Companies challenged the Philadelphia Billboard Tax Ordinance and lost their case in October of 2005,
allowing the City of Philadelphia to fairly Tax Billboards in their City.
The new revenue would benefit the residents of West Hollywood in enhancing current municipal services
and permit an expansion of many community projects and services, including expanding AIDS/HIV treatment
and prevention programs, adding community public spaces such as pocket parks and public enhancements for the new library,
public safety funding for sheriff services and first responders and continued funding of cultural affairs and community events.
Like David vs. Goliath:
West Hollywood residents support YES on Measure A - because it’s time that Billboard Companies pay their fair share of taxes.
Right now, Billboard Companies make tens of millions of dollars a year off West Hollywood and pay virtually nothing for that privilege.
