Celebrate great local asparagus at The Angel Inn Hotel

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 27, 2010 -- This May Bank Holiday weekend, The Angel Inn Hotel at Pershore is getting into the spirit of the British Asparagus Festival with a special menu to celebrate the world-renowned Evesham asparagus.

Worcestershire is home to the largest crop of asparagus, known locally as ‘gras’, in the UK and this excellent local produce has long been considered to be the best in the world. The prime season for asparagus is between April and June, with many growers saying that the flavour improves as the weather warms up.

The annual British Asparagus Festival kicked off in the Vale of Evesham on Friday 23rd April, St. George’s Day, with The Great English Asparagus Run. A whole host of asparagus-themed events, including the ‘Asparabus Tours’, follow until the festival wraps up on 21st June.

From 1st - 3rd May, the Angel Inn Hotel will be paying homage to the county’s world famous vegetable with a select menu of asparagus specials to complement their main restaurant menu. The menu will include a starter and a choice of delicious main courses for diners looking to sample this regional favourite.

The hotel and restaurant recently revamped their bar, restaurant and Sunday lunch menus and their dishes now showcase the best locally sourced produce. The inclusion of asparagus-themed specials this bank holiday further illustrates that they are committed to reflecting local traditions and seasonal trends in their menus.
