Celebrate National Dance week at La Femme: an open studio dance performance

In celebration of National Dance Week- NYC , Fit, Fab, and Sexy has invited local female dance instructors to present works in progress in an informal showing on June 23rd. Each dance instructor has choreographed a work of art that will be performed by either the instructors dance students or the instructors dance troupe. Participating artists are: The Luvely Rae (instructor at Fit, Fab, and Sexy and choreographer for Hunnie Kabaret), Ashley Carter (instructor and choreographer for Double Take Dance), and Sunae Hwang (instructor and choreographer) of Sun Project. 6 choreographers present new works in progress at this one hour performance.

About the Choreographers:

The Luvely Rae

Rae has been performing on the New York burlesque scene for 5 years and produces several burlesque and vaudeville shows. Having studied multiple dance styles including: ballroom, salsa, belly dancing, musical theater, ballet, and jazz, Rae has lent her choreography talents to Off Broadway Shows and traveled nationally as a dancer and actress. She is the head choreographer for New York City based cabaret dance troupe Hunnie Kabaret and is always happy to share her passion for dance and fitness with Fit, Fab, & Sexy® students.

Ashley Carter

Ashley is passionate about her work as a dancer, teacher and choreographer. Primarily trained in New York, she has studied and worked in many different styles from ballet to lyrical, modern, tap, hip-hop, contemporary, and musical theatre. She has had the opportunity to perform and/or choreograph at venues such as Jacob's Pillow, Teatro Madrid, The Gerald Lynch Theater, The Barrow Street Theater, SummerStage, Spoke the Hub, Webster Hall and the Ailey Theatre. Ashley is also on faculty at various schools in Mexico and Spain; and has taught at Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, Peridance and Ballet Arts in New York City, Lines Dance Center in San Francisco, and Round Rock Repertory in Texas. She can be seen working alongside artists such as Ricky Martin and Mila Kunis. Additionally, this season she can be seen dancing on the Rachel Ray show, choreographing for a breast cancer benefit and the latest commercial for Fuse TV, and travelling to the west coast, Europe and Mexico to teach contemporary workshops.



Sunae Hwang

A native of Korea, Sun-ae Hwang, moved to NY in 2006. In Korea, She studied jazz, ballet, and hip-hop. She has worked with Samanda Jo Moore for S.F.A international Jazz Dance Festival, and performed in several showcases with other choreographers. Since coming to NY, Ms. Hwang organized and choreographed in her own project "SUNPROJECT" , and also presented her work in several showcases include at Webster Hall, at citycenter, 92Y, Steps, etc. Ms. Hwang is also a Jazz Dance instructor at Ballet Arts at City Center. Performing: DarkCide with Kumiko Hara, Sun-ae Hwang, Hiroko Sawaki, Saki Tokumura.
