Cell Phone Study Forces a Need For Good Mobile Habits

http://www.cleanmycellphone.com Last week CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 and Sanjay Gupta MD interviewed Cedar Sinai Medical Center neurosurgeon, Dr. Keith Black, about radiation risk from mobile phones. The results, so often dismissed by the FCC, conclusively showed radiation from mobile phones can affect our bodies when it is less than an inch from the skin, slowly cooking our bone marrow, reproductive organs, and even our brain. The most trusted name in news said many cell phone manufacturers specifically recommend in the their user manuals to hold the device at least 5/8 of an inch away from the face during use. Although more studies are needed to form a definite solution, there appears to be some consensus that using a headset or speaker phone during calls as often as you can, and storing your phone away from your body, for example in your backpack or purse, decreases the amount of radiation that flows into your body.
Surge of Health Risks From Cell Phones
In addition to the radiation risks, we all know that texting while driving severely hinders driving and alertness behind the wheel and is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents in the US. Other campaigns are informing cell phone users about the hygiene risks of using a mobile device in a bathroom stall, at a lunch table, and in bed, without cleaning the item. #MobileHygiene for example, is promoting cleaning cell phones with anti-bacterial solution in hospitals and dining facilities.
The Need for Cell Phone Safety Tip
In today’s mobile age, talk times have consistently increased across all groups of cell phone users and some are blasting out over 110 text messages per day. Now, more than ever, we need to pull together to implement the practice of cell phone safety habits on a regular basis. Like any new technology with immense benefits (think automobiles in the early 20th century), its users face predictable and unforeseen risks which must be addressed and, in some cases, mandated.
Here are three basic cell phone risks to be aware of, and their proposed solutions:
Radiation from Cell Phones. Solution: Hold cell phone or smartphone at least 1 inch away from body during calls and while in standby mode. Use speakerphone and headsets more frequently.
Germs and Bacteria on Cell Phones that Can Make You Sick. Solution: Regularly clean your cell phone and do not share cell phones without cleaning them first. Most experts recommend using an anti-bacterial wipe every few days. Be careful not to damage your cell phone by scratching or soaking the device during cleaning.
Distracted Driving. A comparative study from the Virginia Tech Driving Institute of texting while driving vs drunk driving statistics published in a leading car magazine in the United States revealed that texting while driving is even more dangerous than drunk driving. Solution: Do not text or make calls while driving. Many states already outlaw this.
Other risks exist such as smart-sharing of personal data, sexting and minors, and other social effects from mobile phones and mobile web. Solution: Be careful of what you share over your mobile network.
The CleenCell® Mobile Hygiene Campaign promotes personal electronic hygiene in hospitals, schools, and homes. Cleaning your cell phone or electronic device can scratch the screen or damage the electronics of your phone. Use only products that are designed specifically to clean mobile electronics devices. CleenCell® Wipes are a reliable source.
