The benefit of chain link temporary fencing is that it is typically less expensive to rent however disadvantages of decreased quality and stability far outweigh its benefits.

First,chain link temporary fence is much softer then welded wire and can easily be bent, distorted or broken. This makes the fence much more susceptible to weather conditions and compromises the stability of the entire fence. Second,it is much harder to install and take down, it takes at least two people while welded wire is much easier and can be installed with only one person .Third,chain link temporary fencing is usually only recommended for flat paved surfaces while welded wire fences are stable on all surfaced including uneven ones. Chain fences typically only come in silver colour. Welded wire fencing comes in a variety of bright colours which can increase visibility and the appearance of safety on a construction site.
Otherwise,chain link temporary fences have obviously footholds and handholds which make them very easy to climb and compromise the security of the site. Welded wire fences have a smaller mesh which makes them harder to climb.
