Challenger For Illinois House Of Representatives, District 86, Is A Friend To Will County Farmers

Candidate Ryan M. Alm is a lifetime resident of Will County, a 22-year resident of Joliet and a 10 year legal professional who is running uncontested as the Republican challenger in the March 20th primary elections for Illinois House of Representatives, District 86.

District 86 comprises the cities of Crest Hill, Joliet, Rockdale, Elwood and Channahon. Candidate Alm is no stranger to farmers in Will County’s District 86.

“I grew-up in Bolingbrook in the 70’s where farmland surrounded the Village,” said Candidate Alm. “I used to walk by corn fields every day in order to get to my elementary school,” said Alm.

“In addition, growing-up in my pre-teen and teen years, I spent my summers in Batavia, Illinois, as a farmhand on my uncle’s dairy farm. I bailed hay, tended to cows and horses and cleaned stalls. Also for two-weeks every summer, I would travel to Kansas City to life-long friends of our family and assist them on their pecan nut farm. A group of us would stand by the trees and throw bats up into the trees, knocking the nuts to the ground and gather them up for processing,” said Alm, “it was great fun.”

Candidate Alm, a graduate of the University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois, also attended higher education with young 2nd and 3rd generation farm owners from across Illinois. “I remember spending time before and after business classes with a few Illinois farmers. We discussed farm life and how they were going to utilize business skills to modernize farming, keep control of inventories, market goods and earn profits,” Alm continued to state.

“Even today I maintain a weekend farm life,” Alm said. “My sister, who is a life-time employee at Caterpillar, owns two horses for the past 20-years and I spend many weekends attending to her horses - grooming them, letting them go in their paddocks for exercise and cleaning their stalls. There’s nothing like it to take your mind off of the daily and weekly stresses of life and its good exercise too,” Alm said. “We’re big horse fanatics in our family.”

Candidate Alm feels District 86 needs a new and positive direction to solve the state’s needs and has well-rounded experience, ready to step into the position as Illinois House Representative. As a 40-year resident of Will County, Candidate Alm has amassed experience in infrastructure, business, education, technology, gaming, government and law – both civil and criminal.

Candidate Alm wants to apply a balanced-budget, anti-tax, constitutional approach towards tackling the state’s issues, relying heavily upon his juris-doctorate legal education and experience as a former four-year Will County State’s Attorney Felony Crimes Paralegal. He also boasts an additional six-years of civil law experience, which includes writing and editing village ordinances for municipalities. All of which, he feels, will provide a balanced approach to meet the challenges of the District and the State of Illinois.
