Challenging Cameron's capitalism
A social enterprise calls on David Cameron to demonstrate his commitment to ethical capitalism
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 21, 2010 --
People-Centered Economic Development (P-CED) was the title of a 1996 white paper on ethical capitalism. It was delivered to US President Clinton in 1996 by his re-election committee and posted in synopsis on the web in 1997 as an "idea virus".
Since 1999, with a pioneering project which leveraged a microfinance initiative in Tomsk, Russia it has been applied across Eastern Europe to apply business profit to social outcomes.
With a speech at Davos in 1999, David Cameron became an advocate of this new way of doing business.
P-CED now works in Ukraine to raise awareness of childcare issues and now calls on our Prime Minister to support those who've already taken ethical capitalism past rhetoric.
The Abandoned Children of Ukraine are the disabled who are hidden away and neglected in institutions. Efforts to raise awareness are funded by UK business activity. .
The petition, which calls on David Cameron to support social enterprise in international development is hosted on the Change.org action network.
