Charleston International Film Festival Workshops and Q&A's American Theater, April 8-11, 2010

(Free-Press-Release.com) March 31, 2010 -- Charleston, SC, March 31, 2010 – The 3rd Annual Charleston International Film Festival (CIFF), South Carolina’s premiere event for independent filmmakers and film enthusiasts, would like to announce its 2010 workshops, Q&A’s and seminars. Three workshops and Q&A’s are offered free of charge. They include:

The Final Cut Pro Editing Workshop sponsored by the Center for the Documentary at the College of Charleston, is a hands-on beginners workshop where you will learn the fundamentals of video editing from Dave Brown and the professionals. Two Sessions are offered. April 9th, 1-3PM & 3-5PM.

The Business of Film Distribution. "Now that I've made this awesome film, how do I get it in front of an audience?" It's a common question among indie filmmakers. This year's The Business of Film Distribution Workshop with Michael Katchman (Rivercoast Films) will answer the do's and dont's of film distribution, from a business perspective, and common mistakes and challenges faced by independent filmmakers. You will be brought up to date on the current distribution landscape and how it affects your sales and marketing efforts of your film. Michael Katchman has been in the film distribution business for 26 years with Orion Pictures, MGM, Lions Gate and First Look Studios. April 10th, 9-11AM.

The State of Film in S.C. The S.C. Film Commission will be giving you the inside scoop about what's happening right now in the state capital that will have an effect on filmmaking now and in the future. April 10th, 2-3PM.

Filmmakers and attendees are encouraged to ask questions, interact, and be involved. There will be extended Q&A sessions to answer any specific questions you may have. Bring your laptop, pen and paper, friends and ideas for these fun, educational and informative events.

The 3rd Annual Charleston International Film Festival will present the films, host nightly after-parties and culminates on the fourth and final night with the Awards Gala in the Gold Ballroom at the Francis Marion Hotel to recognize the very best of filmmaking and writing displayed during the competition.

Charleston International Film Festival (CIFF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the mission to educate, entertain, and inspire through the art and science of film. Co-founded in 2007, by film producer Summer Spooner and Charleston native Brian Peacher, the festival showcases over 50 short films, features and documentaries from around the world.
