December 8, 2009

Children’s singer-songwriter garners recognition for her “I’m Me” album & title track.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 8, 2009 -- ASHLAND, MA – (Dec. 6, 2009) This has turned into a pretty good year for children’s singer-songwriter Charlie Hope. She was just nominated in two categories for the 9th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMA).

Hope’s debut CD “I’m Me!” was tapped for one of the five “Best Album” spots in the children’s music division, and the title track by the same name is also a “Best Song” nominee. Winners will be determined by a judging panel and revealed in January. Popular vote winners chosen by fans will be announced later in the spring.

The new “I’m Me!” CD was released under the Little Maple Leaf Productions label earlier this year and is being enjoyed by children of all ages.

“We were excited for Charlie back in October when she won the Parents’ Choice Awards Silver Honor, and we are very pleased to see her gain this international recognition” said Rob Wilson of Challenge & Fun, the distributor of Charlie Hope’s music, based in Ashland, MA. “Her music just strikes a chord with people.”

To hear her album, go to www.charliehopemusic.com and click on the “music” tab. Alternatively, if you happen to be flying on Air Canada this month, you will be able to hear the album being featured as a tribute to emerging Canadian artists.

A Canadian by birth, Hope grew up in the Boston area and now resides in Los Angeles. Her music focuses on fun elements relevant to children’s lives and gives a positive spin to things like naptime and new siblings.

Although not a mom, Hope’s music stems from years of working with children, both in preschools and privately as a nanny. “Music is an integral part of a child’s well-being,” says Hope, who earned a bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy with Children from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Hope released her second CD in July, a collection of soothing songs and lullabies titled “World of Dreams”, which has also been recognized with a Creative Child Award.

IMA recognizes an eclectic group of musicians and artists from all over the world – ones “who follow their own muse.” This year’s judges include notables such as Pete Wentz, Ricky Skaggs, DJ Spooky, Suzanne Vega, Brian “Head” Welch, Hanson, Rob Wasserman, Bettye LaVette and Judy Collins – among others.
