Wayne Brothers Inc was ranked #20 in the Charlotte Business Journal's Fast 50! The Fast 50 recognizes the fastest growing private companies in the Charlotte area, and its rankings are based on a company's revenue and percentage growth during the past three years. In addition, the companies must have annual revenue of at least $1 million in 2010 and be based in the 16 county Charlotte region. The accounting firm Clifton/Larson/Allen evaluated the nominations

Q. What have you done to maintain growth during a sluggish economy?

A. We work hard to recruit, train and retain talented employees. We have improved our processes and communication through new technologies such as the cloud, smartphones, tablets and BIM modeling. We added grading equipment that utilizes web-based monitoring and GPS. When the market returned with projects that demanded our expertise, we were able to capitalize on them.

Q. Have you expanded your staff this year, and do you expect to add employees next year?

A. In the past year, we went from 200 employees to more than 375. We will add more as project growth allows.

Q. How do you expect your company to perform in 2013?

A. We are fortunate to enter 2013 with a strong backlog, and we're excited about projects that are expected to move forward next year. We look to maintain growth at a controllable pace and increase revenue.
