Chattanooga Boot Camp for Tornado Relief

Scenic City Adventure Boot Camp will be holding a family friendly boot camp to help aid tornado victims on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 from 9am-10am at their facility, 4728 Adams Rd. Hixson, TN 37343. The camp is for men, women, and children ages 12 years old and up. The price of admission is a donation of emergency supplies for tornado victims. Participants should bring a towel and a water bottle. There are many people in Chattanooga and the surrounding areas who have been devastated by tornadoes and there is a dire need for supplies as well as monetary donations. All checks should be made out to the Samaritan Center. You can donate supplies at Scenic City Boot Camp from 9-10am on Saturday, May 14th, whether or not you choose to participate in boot camp.

Scenic City Boot Camp is a four week, indoor/outdoor fitness program that offers six women-only and co-ed classes per day, which meet at their indoor facility in Hixson. The program combines the best aspects of personal training and group fitness in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. The instructor/owners of Scenic City Boot Camp are Kevin and Dr. Kristen Harvey, who have over 20 years of combined experience helping local Chattanoogans get in shape and lose weight. “We love this community so we see this as our responsibility to help however and wherever we can” says Dr. Harvey. “I know we have so many people that want to help those affected by the tornadoes so I know that this is going to be a successful event.” Every participant gets in shape at their own individual pace, so all shapes, sizes, and abilities are welcome. Each camp includes nutritional guidance, pre- and post-assessments, daily motivation, obstacle courses, resistance training, core exercises, cardiovascular workouts, fitness games and many other unique workouts. “Any time there is a tragedy, people get depressed, anxious, and tend to lead an unhealthy lifestyle while they are recovering,” says Kevin Harvey. “Exercise is a proven way to help relieve stress and beat depression, so I wanted to give families an opportunity to come exercise together, feel better mentally as well as physically, and have fun all while helping others in the community.”

Scenic City Boot Camp started in 2004 and was recently voted “Top 3” in the Chattanooga Best of the Best 2010 Contest for personal training.
