(Bellevue, WA) Many of Western Washington’s most famous chefs gathered at the Bellevue Hyatt Regency hotel on Monday evening, October 5th for the YWCA’s 10th Annual Chef Fest, which generates critical support and awareness for YWCA programs that serve nearly 3,000 women and families living in communities on the Eastside.

Shelly Tolo, organizer of this year’s event, emphasized its importance. “We were able to raise much needed support tonight, to provide housing, homelessness prevention and employment services to Eastside women and families in need.”

One of those women was Donna, a former Pan-Am flight attendant who fell on hard times and found herself homeless. The YWAC was there in her time of need. When she had nowhere to go, the YWCA’s Angeline Eastside Women’s Center was her saving grace. In speaking to the hushed crown on Monday night, Donna praised the program. “Through the love and kindness of the YWCA I never lost my dignity, perseverance or my faith.”

The festive evening, which attracted over 300 people, featured amazing gourmet tasting stations created by chefs, winemakers and epicurean artisans from throughout the Northwest. There were also numerous elegant items in a series of very popular silent auctions that spanned the evening. The successful evening concluded with April Brown, and her high-energy auction team, firing up the crowd with a half dozen unique live auction items, generating maximum dollars for the YWCA.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to help raise money for this amazing organization that remains tireless in its efforts to help women in our community,” said the evening’s auctioneer April Brown.
